LIBRARY GUIDE

Library hours Monday to Friday 

  • Regular Term Hours : 9:30–19:00
  • Spring, Summer and Winter Breaks : 9:30–17:00

The OSIPP Library is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and on public holidays. Any special close announcements will be made on the website and social media.

Special Library hours in the case of weather warning being issued

In the case of a “storm warning”(bouhuu-keihou) or “emergency warning” (tokubetsu-keihou) being issued for Toyonaka, Suita,Ibaraki, and/or Minoh, the OSIPP Library will be closed for as noted below –

  • If a weather warning is issued when the OSIPP Library is open, we will close the library as soon as possible.
  • If the warning is not canceled until 9:00 a.m., the OSIPP Library will be closed for the day.
  • on clearing a weather warning, the OSIPP Library with resume normal opening hours on the next day as usual.

OSIPP Library Terms of Use

    • Individuals other than the faculty members and students at the OSIPP, Graduate School of Law and Politics, Graduate School of Economics, and Law School need to sign in at the counter. Please bring your ID as we will ask you to present it upon sign in.
    • External individuals who are affiliated with other universities and research institutions need to have a letter of recommendation issued by those organizations to use the library (not applicable to faculty members and graduate school students at a national university and equivalent individuals).
    • Bags and coats cannot be brought in. Please leave your belongings in a locker in the locker area located to the right of the entrance before using the library.
      You are responsible for own valuables.
    • Only faculty members and students of OSIPP may use the copy machines in the library. Copy cards sold at the co-op will not work on the copy machine in the library.
      If you wish to copy a document, please check out the material first and then use the coin-operated copy machine located in the Coop.

Aside from special Library use only materials, students can borrow most books for two weeks.

LIBRARY MATERIALS

Journals

The library shelves academic journals pertaining to law, economics, and political sciences. The most recent issues and issues from the past 12 months are stored on the new items’ shelf. Issues older than one year are stored on the movable shelf.

Books

The library shelves books, encyclopedias, reference materials, and so on that pertain to law, economics, and political sciences. The library stores special books in the following sections:

  • Staff Members’ Section – Publications, offprints of articles, excerpts of journal articles, and so on written by OSIPP teaching staff.
  • Class Reference Materials Section – Books/materials that OSIPP teaching staff want their students to read.
  • Human Peace and Collective Security Section – Materials pertaining to peace and security, particularly in Southeast Asia and Africa

    • Handbooks in Economics series (PDF)

Newspapers

Visitors can view three newspapers: Asashi Shimbun, Yomiuri Shimbun, and Nihon Keizai Shimbun. The current and previous months’ issues are stored on the new items shelf. Issues up to 12 months old are stored on the movable shelf.

Master’s Theses/Doctoral Theses

OSIPP Library holds master’s theses and doctoral theses by OSIPP graduates. Please ask at the counter for viewing these materials.

Poster Session Printing Support Service

Large size (A0 plus size) printer is available in the OSIPP Library.
The following service is available to OSIPP Students and JSPS Researchers (once per academic year).

Terms of use

  • Target person
    1) OSIPP Master or Doctoral Students;
    2) JSPS Researchers who belongs to OSIPP.
  • Purpose
    Only to be used for a research poster session (such as a presentation for research association, conference poster session, seminar or symposium, and so on).
  • Poster size
    A0 size poster (color print), cloth material.
  • Application procedure (Application Form below)
    1. Before using this service, please obtain supervisor’s approval.
    2. Please send the original data (MS Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and the application form to OSIPP Library,  2 days before it is needed.
    3. Please send  a photograph from the presentation that we would be able to post on the OSIPP News site and it’s Facebook page.
    (The Facebook page is for OSIPP public relations. If you do not wish to share on Facebook, please tell us and it will not be shared.)
