A grant will be provided for research presentations at academic conferences held overseas. (*This only applies if the purpose of the travel is to present research. A moderator or a discussant is not eligible. Each student can receive this grant no more than once per fiscal year.)
The amount of the grant is generally limited to 150,000 yen for travel to Europe and the United States, and 50,000 yen for travel to Asia. Applications will be accepted twice a year (once for each of the first and second semesters), and preference will be given to a small number of students who are presenting research abroad for the first time. For the current fiscal year only, conferences that have already been held by the submission deadline of the first semester are also eligible for this grant.
If you would like to apply, please fill out the application form and submit it with the following documents; (1) an itinerary and estimate of travel expenses, (2) a document showing an outline of the conference (a PDF of part of the website is acceptable), and (3) a program indicating the presenter, or a document (an email) indicating that the presentation has been accepted. After a screening process, the Committee will notify the applicant, in principle, within one month of the outcome. However, due to budget constraints, the number of applicants and the amount of the grant may increase or decrease.
If you receive a grant, you will be asked to submit the final program of the conference you attended (including the presenter’s name and the title of the presentation), a copy of your passport or airline tickets, and receipts for travel and accommodation expenses within one month of your return to Japan. Also, please submit a report on your participation in the conference, in 800 Japanese characters or 400 English words to the following address within one month of your return.
