Research Introduction and Message

Many financial products (such as mortgages, mutual funds, and insurance products) are so complex that consumers are often inattentive to hidden fees, unsuitable qualities, or future risks. Building upon literatures on theoretical industrial organization and behavioral economics, I have investigated market outcomes, welfare effects, and policy implications when firms sell products to consumers who may misperceive the value of products.

I encourage OSIPP students to learn the framework of economic theory, which helps to understand individual and market behavior.
