African Conflict Resolution Program (Zuno-Junkan Project)
  1. Purpose
  2. The Osaka School of International Public Policy (OSIPP) is currently offering opportunities for collaborative research in South Africa for Ph.D. and post-doctoral researchers pursuing research on the subject of conflict resolution in Africa. OSIPP is accepting applications from those researchers who are able to actively pursue collaborative research on this topic, and who meet the conditions detailed below. This program is being implemented through a grant from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), and is designed to contribute to the strengthening of collaborative networks through the work of the participating researchers.
  3. Conditions for application
  4. Applicants must meet all of the requirements below:
    • (1) Are pursuing, or have completed a Ph.D. course at Osaka University
    • (2) Are researching issues closely associated with those covered by this program
    • (3) Have completed one of the following:
       (a) Have published three (3) academic articles
       (b) Have published at least one article in a foreign-language journal, or made
          an academic presentation at an international conference
       (c) Have participated as a researcher in a project involving a research grant

  8. 2 dispatched in 2014 (an additional 2 position available for April 2015)
  9. Dispatch dates
  10. Leaving by 1 October 2014 (negotiable), for a period of one year (365 days)
  11. Application deadline

  13. Funding
  14. The program will cover the following expenses:
    • Return plane ticket to South Africa
    • Living/research expenses
    • A fixed amount for preparation costs (visa and settling in costs)

    • (3) A research proposal (2 A4 pages in length)

  19. An initial assessment will be made of the application documents. Those passing this initial screening will be called for interviews: 22-25 July.
  20. Selection results
  21. Applicants will be informed by email of the results within 3 days of the end of each selection stage.
